Faculty at the Section of Ecology, Behavior, and Evolution focus on the evolution of communication in social bees and factors that influence honey bee health (Prof. James Nieh) and study honey bee abundance and genetic admixture in San Diego, which has been influenced by the relatively recent influx of Africanized bees (Prof. Joshua Kohn).

Research:I study the effects of environmental stressors, natural and man-made on social bees. For the multicampus network, I focused on treatments that can rescue bees from pesticide exposure and exploring resistance to bee viruses and Nosema disease.
