Name: Prof. Hyoseung Kim (see CV)
Research: My research with CIBER primarily focuses on the development of the EBeeVet framework, which includes hive sensor devices and machine learning algorithms to analyze, understand, predict colony behavior. I have been part of the UCOP MRPI project (Strengthening honey bee health and crop pollination to safeguard food availability and affordability) and the OASIS project (Breeding healthy honey bees using intelligent sensing to safeguard sustainable food production). Recently, I submitted a proposal to the NSF CPS program (Collaborative Research: CPS: Medium: EbeeVet: An Electronic Bee-Veterinarian Framework to Secure) along with other CIBER researchers. I have also participated in the CIBER Bee Conference in 2022 and 2023. Currently, my PhD student, Mst. Shamima Hossain (coadvised by Prof. Tsotras) and my project scientist, Mohsen Karimi, are working closely with Prof. Boris Baer and the CIBER team to collect and analyze sensor data from experimental hives on campus.
