Name: Jessica Webb
Function: PhD Student
Research: I am interested in understanding the functioning of the honeybee immune system, particularly in regards to the pathogen Nosema ceranae. To do this I use metabolomics to identify antifungal metabolites found in the seminal fluid of honeybees and test the viability and infectivity of N. ceranae spores when exposed to these metabolites. These metabolites have the potential to be used as a medication for the treatment of Nosema ceranae in the future.
