Name: Jessica Maccaro
Function: PhD Candidate
Research: How microbes and bees co-evolve together and interact. She has her B.S. in Molecular Environmental Biology from UC Berkeley. Then she worked as a lab manager doing agricultural entomology in California's Central Valley. After taking up insect macro photography she became passionate about combining the arts with science. Her projects now are centered around studying the benefits of art-science collaborations for community members and STEM graduate students. As the president of UCR’s science communication group (SciComm@UCR), she continues to find ways to share the beauty of the natural world through combining art and science across mediums and to diverse audiences.
