Research: I manage CIBER apiaries located at UCR. We maintain a diverse set of honey bee colonies for graduate student research. As part of this program we work to identify positive traits for new managed lineages of honey bees through artificial insemination, engage multi-disciplinary researchers to create novel sensor platforms to inform beekeepers of changing hive conditions, and dive deeper into honey bee biology in order to create new medications and solutions to honey bee pest and parasites.
