Research: My research is focused on the microsporidian fungal parasite Nosema ceranae, using heat-killed (dead) spores as a treatment for the infection, comparing its effects on managed and survivor honeybees. To evaluate its effectiveness, I am measuring spore quantities in the honeybee's midgut and the immunity marker titer levels of vitellogenin, juvenile hormone, and chitinase.
